SECRETS AT SEA, THIS SIDE OF PARADISE

Posted May 2nd, 2011 by Sonya and filed in Uncategorized

cover of secrets at sea

On paper, I’m reading an advance reading copy of SECRETS AT SEA by Richard Peck. Full disclosure: he’s a friend of mine. But I would love this book anyway! It’s a rollicking adventure of a royal family of mice, and I’m laughing and cheering with every turn of the page…

On audio, I’m listening to THIS SIDE OF PARADISE by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and am enjoying the voice of the character, Amory Blaine, so naive and full of himself and insecure all at the same time. A lot is being added by the actor reading the story, Dick Hill, who is fabulous at capturing all the different voices!

On digital, I am reading…nothing.

What are you reading? Is it any good?

I am reading “One of Those Hideous Books Where The Mother Dies”, by Sonya Sones. It is really good so far! When I start reading any of her books I can’t put them down! This was no different. I think it would be hard to write novels in verse because they flow like a story, but they are like poems all the way through it. Thank you so much Sonya!!

Hi Susan! Sorry it took me so long to reply to your kind comment, but I’ve been busy working on the sequel to my HIDEOUS book. I’m delighted to know that you liked the original…The new book follows Colette’s story…
      xx,
      Sonya

I am currently reading If I Should Die Before I Wake by: Han Nolan. But my all time favorite authors are you (of course) and Ellen Hopkins. I usually don’t like reading and actually used to despise it but my sister showed me Stop Pretending and since then I have re-read all of yours and Ellen Hopkins books over and over again, I don’t know what it is about free verse but I just love the way they flow. I didn’t know about your new book but I’m going to go buy it tomorrow because I have been waiting for more of your books! =] Are you currently writing any new books to look foward to?

Confession: I was not able to get through This Side of Paradise. At first, I was liking the snarky narrator, but after a while he started getting on my nerves. So much so that I did something I rarely ever do: I quit before I finsihed reading it.
