When I first saw the photo for the cover of WHAT MY GIRLFRIEND DOESN'T KNOW, I got a little worried. The girl’s hair was so short that I was afraid people would think she was a boy. And if they thought she was a boy, then maybe they’d think that what the boy’s girlfriend doesn’t know is that he’s gay.
So I took some alternate photos and showed them to the folks at Simon and Schuster:
Simon and Schuster liked their original cover photo better, though. So we compromised: we used their photo, but added a dangly earring so that the girl would look more girly.

I’m happy with the way it turned out. I think it will make people want to open up the book and look inside…

Here is the new paperback cover of WHAT MY GIRLFRIEND DOESN’T KNOW. I love the quote by Meg Cabot, and I’m excited about the writing contest they’re doing in conjunction with the book’s release.
I’m not sure which character that girl is supposed to be. Maybe after you read the book you can write me and let me know who YOU think it is.
