The photo on the hardback cover of Stop Pretending is a picture that my sister took of herself in a mirror. When my editor saw it, she thought it would be a perfect image for the cover. The blurry quality of the photo seemed symbolic of things being out of focus, the way they might be if a person had mental illness. And because the picture was so blurry, my sister didn't have to worry about being recognized.

So far, Stop Pretending has been published in the United States, the United Kingdom and in Denmark. And soon it will be published in Germany, Holland, and Belgium. Here is what the covers on the Danish and United Kingdom editions look like. It's interesting that even though each of the foreign covers are really different from the cover of the American edition, both of them used that same idea of blurriness:
